+ How long does it take to reverse Alzheimer’s Disease?
Every person has a unique combination of contributing factors that will heal at different rates. Of particular importance is ensuring all contributing factors have been identified - some of those are harder to treat than others. Additionally, how well someone adheres to the diet and lifestyle recommendations will impact recovery.
+ Does the Bredesen Protocol reverse Alzheimer’s Disease in everyone?
The short answer is no - the more that Alzheimer’s has progressed the more difficult it is to reverse. Additionally, some types of Alzheimer’s Disease respond more quickly to treatment than others. However, some very advanced Alzheimer's cases with extremely low MoCA scores have been reversed.
+ Alzheimer’s Disease runs in my family, can I prevent it?
Yes, the Bredesen Protocol is key to preventing Alzheimer’s Disease. Simple changes to diet and lifestyle as well as uncovering and treating your risk factors before cognitive decline takes hold will set you up for a lifetime of memories and brain health.
+ How long are the programs?
The programs vary in length but 6 months is the general amount of time needed to repair and see improvements in cognition. The coaching sessions are spaced according to your needs so you implement your treatment plan at a pace that is comfortable for you.
+ Is the Bredesen Protocol hard to follow?
The Bredesen Protocol is a demanding program addressing a complicated disease. Throughout our sessions, we tell you what changes to make. We provide you with the knowledge to understand why you are making changes, the tools necessary to implement the changes and the support to turn those changes into habits. Once you learn what repairs your brain health you will be able to maintain optimal health for years to come.
+ Do I have to exercise?
Yes, movement and exercise are cornerstone to recovery. In our programs we have a certified Active Aging Movement Coach specializing in Senior Fitness conduct an in-home or video-conference movement analysis and create a program specifically for you.
+ Will you work with my doctor?
Yes, I can work with your doctor, however, they may want you to work with a Bredesen Trained Physician if they feel it is outside their scope of practice. This is an important discussion to have with your doctor. In the Assessment Phase you will work with a Bredesen Trained Functional Medicine Doctor.
+ What is a health coach?
Health coaches are a new breed of health care professionals trained to change a patient’s behaviour that contributes to illness. Doctors are taught how to diagnose and treat specific illnesses but they are not trained to change a patient’s habits. Health Coaches are filling that gap by working with patients in the weeks and months between doctor visits and helping them change the very habits that have contributed to illness. Through education, support and motivation health coaches are helping patients create lasting healthy habits. Nutrition Health Coaches are additionally trained in over 100 different nutrition theories. Michelle Gindl is a Nutrition Health Coach.
+ What is the best health care team to prevent or recover from Alzheimer’s Disease?
The best health care team to work with is a Bredesen Trained Physician and Health Coach. They are trained in the protocol and work collaboratively to ensure you have the best possible chance of recovery.
+ Where are you located?
Health Uncovered and Michelle Gindl are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but we work with people from all over the world through video conference.
+ Do I have to come to your office for appointments?
No, you have the option of having your appointments in person, telephone or via video conference.
+ What is a ReCODE Report?
A ReCODE Report or “Cognoscopy” is an evaluation of your cognitive health. It is an assessment based on lab results ordered by your Bredesen Trained practitioner or the panel provided by our lab affiliate for the One-time ReCODE Report.
A ReCODE Report is a reference for participants and their Qualified ReCODE Report practitioners. It is highly recommended to consult a Bredesen Protocol Practitioner to review and interpret your Report. + Why do I need a ReCODE Report?
The ReCODE Report provides specific information on which factors are contributing to your cognitive decline or which factors put you at risk. Our Repair Program implements the finding of the ReCODE Report.
+ I live in Canada, can I purchase the One-Time ReCODE Report?
Currently, there are no labs in Canada that offer the baseline blood panel as a package for the ReCODE Report. Your physician will be able to run some of the labs through Provincial health care and the remaining will be done through private labs. If you are travelling to the USA, you may be able to purchase the One-Time ReCODE Report.
